About BartCharts

BARTCHARTS™ is a comprehensive template system created by a private ED group in the Washington, DC area. These templates were originally created in response to two concerns:

1. Our physicians were not satisfied with any of our prior charting systems
2. The existing systems available to the ED community are far too expensive

Our templates were developed in a high acuity clinical setting under the guidance of Dr. Robert Rothstein, a well-known leader in Emergency Medicine. They have been enhanced over time based on both physician and billing company feedback.

Electronic BARTCHARTS (eBC)	Paper BARTCHARTS

Both paper BARTCHARTS and electronic BARTCHARTS (eBC) utilize the same set of templates. There are a total of 55 different templates: 42 general medical,
6 pediatric-specific, and 7 addendums. Each template offers many benefits over the other charting systems:

• Designed with CMS (HCFA) Guidelines embedded in each section of every chart, thus preventing “down-coded” charts
  
  
• Prompts key questions, physical findings and critical actions, making it a valuable risk-management tool
  
  
• Includes a complete Review of Systems in each chart – thus, any given chart can easily achieve Level 5 coding when clinically appropriate
  
  
• Provides more space for free text in the History of Present Illness and Medical Decision Making sections for improved documentation and legibility
  
  
• Contains a comprehensive Differential Diagnosis list for improved clinical decision making, documentation, and coding

And finally,

• Both paper and electronic are offered at a significantly more reasonable price than any comparable system
